Hi Everyone,
Sorry if you have not been able to get in contact with me recently but I am off on maternity leave until July 2012. The Blog is still available, but I won’t be able to update it as often until I am back at work. I also don’t have easy access to my resources as they are on my work computer. If there are any special requests for anything, I will try my best to add resources or point you all in the right direction. Remember to go on the exam board websites to get past papers and also the specification (which tells you what teachers have to teach you and shows the detail you need to know for the exam). Anyway, I hope you still find my blog useful and it’ll be fully functional again soon!

Hi Everyone,
I have to put a message on here to say goodbye to my lovely tutor group 10LMI. I have had them since they were in Year 7 and they have really made going into work worthwhile. Every morning they cheer me up, and every single one of them is a credit to Macmillan! 10LMI I’m really going to miss you all, you have all been a ray of sunshine in the morning and you really have been the best tutor group I have ever had! You are all such nice, warm and friendly students and I hope that my ‘little one’ arriving in September grows up to be just like all of you! It’s not often as a teacher that you get the chance to teach such a nice group together and I feel that I’ve been so lucky to see you all every morning! I also want to say thanks to ‘the 10LMI lads’ (you know who you are) for the lovely chocolates and gifts you gave to me today. It was such a surprise and I will send a photo of my little girl wearing the clothes (I’m even going to keep the chocolate to take into hospital when I go). I hope you all don’t forget me as I will be at the prom to see you all this time next year! Enjoy work experience and stay in touch. I know that you will all do really well in the years to come and I really look forward to hearing what you all do after Year 11. I know that I’ll see some of you back in Year 12, and you never know, if you take A’level Biology I might have you back in Year 13!
Lots of love
Mrs Miller xx
PS The group is called LMI Macmillan Academy if you want to stay in touch

Hi Everyone,
I thought I’d put a message on here to wish you all good luck for your exams in May and June… I know it can be a stressful time, but just keep thinking about the Summer holidays and how good you will feel knowing that you worked hard. It is really difficult to get your books out when the sun is shining outside, but it will feel great on results day when you get the grade you deserve. Remember to start early, re-learn the basics from the beginning and only try past papers when you have learned the information, otherwise you will feel frustrated when you can’t answer the questions. If you have any problems or questions, just send me a message on my blog and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible. Also remember to invest in a good revision guide that matches the exam board. Good luck to all my students and also the students from other schools who have been in touch around the country

Well done to Josh Copeland, Rob Dawson, Liam Akther, Jack Bashford, Jack Smith, Marcus Robinson, Liam McCarten, Danny Billon, Rob Turley, and Rob Maxwell who took part in the interform football finals yesterday. After two exciting matches we actually WON! Well done boys it was thoroughly deserved! Now we just need to win the rugby!

Hi Everyone,
If you are in 6th form, you should have already begun revision for the June exams. For GCSE you should begin over the Easter holidays- Start by writing down all the units you need to learn, then perhaps the sub-topics. Start from the beginning and work through all topics, making short, bullet point notes as you go along. Adding simple diagrams can also help. Once you have learned a topic, try some questions. You should never attempt past paper questions until you have learned the material, as it can be very demoralising when you don’t know the answer. In the week before your exam, you should be completing as many past paper questions as possible. This will ensure you are totally prepared for the exam. I hope some of these tips work and that you can all enjoy the Summer Holidays without having to dread exam results day… Everyone can get a good grade if you are willing to put in the hard work

Just a note to say well done to all the students who attended my ethical issues session today. I have emailed all your tutors and Miss Wilkinson to say that I was extremely impressed by the effort that you all put in and also your excellent attitudes. Everyone was very accepting of other people’s viewpoints and I learned a lot from all of your ideas and discussions. Although it was difficult to find the right answer, I hope it gave you all a chance to think about things differently. I’d love to hear more ideas, so if you can think of any more points for discussion, you can reply to this blog, catch me in the corridor or send me an email. I’ll definitely be thinking about the issues further- it’s just a shame we didn’t have longer as we weren’t able to hear everyones ideas. Well done Year 12! It’s been the most enjoyable session I’ve taught for ages. What an intelligent group of people you all are!
